The allergic dude (it)

JavaScript is taking over the world. Unfortunately 🙊.

I'm originally from Basque Country (Spain), so depending who you ask, I'm Spanish or Basque. You cannot be both apparently 🤷🏻‍♂️.We've been living in The Netherlands for more than 4 years already, and no plans to go back. We even complain about the weather every morning. So gezellig!

I consider myself a nerd (is it even possible to live without technology?), but I also value very much spending time with lovely people, preferably sharing a table full of good wine and food.

I was lucky enough to have a real computer (Macintosh Color Classic) at home when I was young, and since then, I live attached to a keyboard. I started coding on blue terminals with white and yellow characters (does anyone remember Turbo Pascal??), discovering conditionals, loops, etc... everything was magic! I decided to study Computer Science, and the magic just become a bunch of bits moving around digital board and cables. Still fun though ;) As you can imagine, I'm not a millennial, so be ready for stories about Internet Explorer 5 and how things were way easier back in the days, like FTP red-red deployments 👴🏻

Some practical information about me:

  • I'm allergic to all nuts but pistachios.
  • I'm allergic to most of the fruits like apples, pears, grapes (I can drink good wine though ;), *-berries, peach, apricots... but not tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, papaya, banana, watermelon...
  • I'm allergic to cats and dogs.
  • I'm allergic to cold. Yes, not joke. COLD.
  • Did I already mention that I'm allergic to several things?

Even though I'm originally from Spain, I DON'T:

  • Cook paellas every day. Actually, I don't cook at all.
  • Drink sangria. Do you know that I'm allergic to some fruits?
  • Like football. These people don't deserve that amount of money just for running behind a ball.
  • Like bullfighting. For obvious reasons.
  • Take naps.

Things that I actually DO like:

  • Surfing. I used to surf almost every day in Spain, and now we travel to Asia at least once a year looking for warm days and nights, nice waves and exciting food. If you have tips (or questions!) please let me know.
  • Good food and wine. I don't consider FEBO good enough, sorry about that.
  • Live music. I could live at Paradiso.
  • Restore vintage racing bikes. It does not include fixing your colleagues flat tires unless payments are done with (good) wine. Sorry.
  • Coffee ☕️
